Recap: Charleston alternating kick-throughs, starting tandem (10/15/19)
This week Ben and Taryn created a routine that put all of our Charleston moves together. The new skill of the week was alternating kick-throughs with the lead and follow kicking in opposite directions. We also started tandem Charleston by practicing our steps with the follow in front of the lead.
Recap: Charleston basic, kicks to outside turn, kick throughs (10/1/19)
In Week 1 of our October Charleston series Ronni and Taryn worked on: •Doing the basic step solo, then in side by side (Remember to support your own weight) •A kick rhythm ending with both partners doing an outside turn. Leads say to yourself: rock step kick, change the hands, rock step kick, rock step kick, rock step BIG kick, step step, rockstep...(back into the basic). •Kickthroughs. Leads cue this by moving the hand on their follow's back, then both partners turn and kick.
Recap: Floorcraft, Texas Tommy with mini dip (9/29/19)
In Week 4 of our September Advanced Beginner Lindy Hop series Mark and Emily talked about floorcraft including: •Watch where you're sending (leads) and watch where you're going (both) •Use your hands to increase pressure and communicate that something or someone is in the way •Shirking – have a shorter, tighter frame to dance in small spaces Mark and Emily also continued to work on the Texas Tommy (including safety tips) and the mini dip (with a saying to help you get all the steps).
